Tin Barn Technique Challenge Card

Happy Weekend!!!
Today I have a special card to show you. I pulled out all the stops on this one. You see, hubby built me a new craft room and I really wanted to earn the new Stampin' Storage items from Stampin' Up! to add to my beautiful new space.

I entered a technique challenge hosted by my Upline, Linda Bauwin. Linda really stretches my imagination when she offers these challenges. Here's the card I submitted for the
Technique Challenge.
My goal was to make the horse look like he was in a tin shed, so I went with the Faux Patina technique by using gold, copper and silver embossing powders on Crumb Cake Card Stock. I added and heat set them all 3 separately. Once they were dry, I ran the panels through the Big Shot with the corrugated embossing folder.
A simple inside of the card.

I hung the "sign" using a copper metallic brad and linen thread by poking holes through the back of it with my paper piercer on the Take Your Pick tool, threading it through the front and tying knots on both sides.

The horse was done using two more techniques - Mirroring and No-Line Watercoloring with the Stampin' Blends. Side Note: I am left-handed so when I draw horses, this is the natural direction for them to be facing 😉 I used my Stamparatus &Silicone Sheet to mirror him. Being that my perfect horse, Sunny, is a Palomino, I just HAD to figure out how to make a Palomino with this stamp set. Viola! No-Line Watercoloring using Versamark and clear embossing powder! I see many more Palominos coming out of the Let It Ride stamp set now!

This card was so much fun for me to do! I'm so blessed to be able to do what I love and love what I do!

Dad's 75th Birthday

Today my dear ol' dad turned 75 years old!!! Yup, ¾ of a Century!!! Not bad right?!
In lieu of cake, I opted to show up on his doorstep with his favorite pizza - Harris. If you're ever in the QC, you NEED to try Harris Pizza!!!
YUM!!!

He was VERY surprised! When I called him this morning, I didn't lie when he asked what I was doing. I was delivering crafting stuff to a friend, but little did he know that friend was in the QC where he lives (I live over an hour away). Sneaky huh?!

And just a quick peek of the card I made him. The funnest part was the pop-out "75" when he opened the card.

And who doesn't like a gift card to buy whatever they want, right?

I'm so happy that I was able to surprise him today! 😁😁😁

I hope you all have as wonderful as a day that I did.

Catchya on the flip side!

A Good Man for the June Stray Ducklings Blog Waddle

Hello and welcome to another edition of the Stray Duckling's Blog Waddle.
Today I'm featuring the Stamp Set A Good Man. We never seem to have enough masculine cards, but Stampin' Up! makes it easy with this set. This card went together in a jiffy. Even the coloring is easy because there are big, open spaces that don't require a lot of shading.
Add a simple cardstock banner, a small piece of DSP (designer series paper) and a few self-adhesive embellishments and that's it. Easy Peasy!
An extra layer of DSP inside gives it a bit of a finishing touch as well.

Please be sure to visit my duckling friends on this waddle. And, if you're so inclined, we'd love to hear from you. It's nice to know that someone out there is reading our posts. 💙 Next in line is our awesome friend, Sue Boerner. Sue makes sure our waddle is running smoothly every month. Without her, we couldn't do this!
