Cone of Shame Card

Hello Stampers!

We had another big scare last night with our youngest dog, Rascal. He has a seizure disorder and we hoped we had it under control but he started seizing again. After a couple of calls with the ER vet and extra meds not working, we ended up in the doggy ER with him - again. The last trip was exactly 2 months ago.

I can tell you one thing...seizures are scary to a mom. I can't imagine having human children and having to deal with anything of the like. My heart goes out to all of you who do.

The vet we had last night just so happened to be the same one that treated Rascal two months ago so she was well-versed with him and his seizures. Our vet clinic has 5 vets so you never know which one you're going to see when you have to go in unexpectedly like this. We, fortunately have had great luck with all 5 vets in this office and when you have as many dogs, cats & horses as we do, that is a Godsend for sure.

Now that all is calm in our world, I decided to make a card to thank everyone in their office. They certainly have a difficult job since most of us pet parents are extremely passionate about our "kids".

I pulled out my new Hot Dog stamp set because I felt the Cone of Shame was very appropriate for a card that's going to a vet office. Pairing it with the Playful Pets designer series paper worked great. I wanted a vibrant blue background since Rascal is a vibrant young boy so I went with Pacific Point cardstock for my base and my layers.

I stamped on vellum with Staz On for the cone, fussy cut it and just added a tiny bit of multipurpose glue behind the inked lines to attach it so the glue wouldn't show through the vellum.

The sentiments are from the Massive Thanks stamp set. I added pawprints and bones to the inside and the envelope to finish off my project.

I hope this card at least brings a smile to the worker's faces and lets them know they're appreciated.

And here's our aptly-named boy this morning.

As I type this though he's taking a big nap behind me on his doggy bed. I think all the excitement has caught up with him. I was just grateful to have him playing ball again this morning.

Please remember to take the time to acknowledge and thank others. You never know when someone might need a smile or a Paper Hug.

HAPPY STAMPING!!!

~Kim~
